Domtar, a leading manufacturer of sustainable paper products, has ordered a customized Americon control room console for its operation in Arkansas. I enjoyed working with the Domtar project manager for about a year on a design and implementation schedule that met their planned migration from an older control system. As is the case for many manufacturers who are modernizing their systems, not all of the older equipment can be replaced initially. This means that the new console has to be designed in a way to accommodate the new equipment as well as older control panels for equipment that will remain on-line indefinitely. In this case, the selected console design included 9 fully adjustable stacked monitor pole arms for 18 monitors, rack space, and a custom turret for an existing control panel. The 19’L console with 120 degree turns on each end is an ideal shape and size for a single operator to monitor all of the new systems for a single vantage point. This control room console has lower bays for racked CPUs accessible from both sides.
I had the opportunity to help my customer evaluate our consoles and make comparisons. Judging by the feedback I received, we were selected based on the “Big 3” - best solution, high product quality and competitive pricing. We may not offer the lowest priced control room console on the market; however our customers tell us that it’s definitely the best. I look forward to sharing my customer’s feedback on their control room console after installation, and hope to have photos to go with it.
Our industrial control room console business continues to grow as does our dispatch and emergency management business. If I can help you with your control room console, or video wall project, I’m available. There’s no pressure to buy. My design service is free. That said, I’m confident that when you’ve had the opportunity to evaluate our offerings and compare it to others, you’ll choose Americon.
